Obsidian and Neomas both value local Markdown files. Obsidian favors a highly customizable plugin-based workspace; Neomas packages memory, resurfacing and AI workflows into one opinionated system.

NEOMAS
Obsidian is excellent, and we build on the same foundation: local Markdown. The real difference is who does the assembly. If tuning plugins is part of the pleasure, stay where you are — that is a legitimate choice. If you want the system to remember for you from the first day, and you work on macOS, Neomas is the shorter route to the same freedom.
That is Neomas’s own view of the comparison. The table above and the linked sources are there so you can reach a different one.
An existing Markdown vault is the easiest case: import the folder into Neomas and keep a backup. Standard notes remain readable. Review Obsidian-specific plugin syntax, Dataview queries and embeds because another app may not reproduce them exactly.
